First Day: From Hotel Wiesengrund via Vaterlands Path and Bärensteig to Hinterstein: Ascent 342 m, descent 275 m, total walking time 3 hours
Before the hike starts, transportation of our bags to the next hotel „Grüner Hut“ in Hinterstein will be organised.
From Hotel Wiesengrund we hike to Bad Oberndorf. The Vaterlandsweg (Fatherland Path) begins there and ascends gently to the Schleierfall (900 m). The path continues down to Bruck and takes us via the Bärenweg (Bear Path) back up to the Zipfelswasserfall (980 m) and on to Hinterstein. Shortly before the end of the hike we arrive at Prinze Gumpe, a pond that is open to the public for swimming and where refreshments may be obtained.
Second Day: From the Wannenjoch over the Smugglers’ Way to Iselerbahn: Ascent 216 m, descent 227 m, walking time 2 hours.
We take a bus from our hotel “Grüner Hut” (Green Hat) to Schattwald in the Tannheimer Valley in Austria (changing buses in Bad Hindelang). The Wannenjoch chairlift takes us up to 1570 m. From there we take the panoramic path called Smugglers’ Way until we reach the summit station of the Iselerbahn on the Oberjoch. On the way we cross the border back into Germany. We can stop for refreshments at the “Vorderen Wiedhagalpe” (1425 m), then we take the chairlift back down to Oberjoch and return by bus to our hotel in Hinterstein.
Third Day: To the Schwarzenberghütte and Käseralpe and down to Giebelhaus: Ascent 443 m, descent 419 m, walking time 2:45 hours.
We take the Giebelhaus bus to the bus stop “Trailhead Schwarzenberghütte“ (1035 m). From there we ascend to the hut (1380 m) continuing through “Paradise”, an alpine meadow with beautiful old maple trees, to Käseralpe. Above it we will pause to enjoy the wonderful view of the Allgäu mountains. We descend on an easy track to the managed Giebelhaus (1058 m) and from there we return by bus to Hinterstein.
